Deluge 3.1 Firmware Released by Synthstrom Audible
Synthstrom Audible released Deluge Firmware V3.1.0, containing a number of new features and improvements.
Deluge 3.1 Firmware New Features
Important: Songs saved with V3.1 will not be readable by older firmware versions. Please back up your songs and/or save them as new files. Download 3.1 Firmware here.
- Default resolution for new songs is now 384th-notes (at which the max zoom level is 128th-notes). This default is double what it was before, and may be set even higher (up to 6144th-notes!) without consuming any additional CPU power
- Horizontal note nudge – hold down a note’s pad, and hold down and turn the <> knob to move the note in increments of the song’s minimum resolution unit (384th-notes default for new songs)
- Note repeat – hold down a note’s pad, and hold down and turn the vertical scroll knob to dial in more or less repeats of the note, which will be spaced as equally as possible within the time interval represented by the pad you’re holding
- Default velocity may be set. Settings menu -> DEFAults -> VELOcity
- The Deluge can now host USB hubs, allowing multiple USB MIDI devices to be connected
- The Deluge now sends MIDI to hosted USB MIDI devices. Previously it would only receive
- Jitter (timing errors) when playing to an incoming MIDI or trigger clock has been drastically reduced, especially when CPU load is heavy
- You can now mute and unmute rows of a kit while stutter is engaged
- The colours which appear on the mute/launch pads can now be changed for active, muted, stopped, and soloing rows. Settings menu -> PADS -> COLOurs
Documentation
The new features are documented in the newly updated V3.1 edition of the official Deluge guidebook. Or to read about the new features only, an “addendum” is provided.
Deluge 3.1 Firmware Installation
To install the update, place the .bin file onto your SD card, ensure there are no other .bin files on there, put the card back into your Deluge, and then hold down the shift button while powering on. A spinning animation will display, and the firmware will be permanently installed.
Please take this opportunity to back up the data from your SD card while it’s in your computer. Any storage technology can fail, and we want your work to be safe regardless.

Overlay For Synthstrom Deluge
Synthstrom Deluge Overlay
Oversynth is offering a wide range of Overlays for your Deluge. The Deluge is an extremely complex and sophisticated musical instrument that usually requires the user to memorize dozens of control combinations in order to access the various command functions.
To help users remember these commands, Oversynth developed a simple color-coding and shape-coding cipher system to express control combinations using short, simple graphical phrases.
Each of the encoders is assigned basic colors such as purple, red, green, blue, etc. User actions are assigned shapes such as ‘square’ for pushing the encoder like a button, and ‘circle’ for turning the encoder like a knob. ‘Star’ is used to indicate the push+turn action.
The overlays make use of high contrast graphics and large fonts for easy viewing in low light. The overlays are printed on a highly durable, waterproof, and 100% recyclable polyester sheet. The matte finish is designed to minimize reflections from ambient light for maximum readability.
The overlay is printed on a highly durable, waterproof, and 100% recyclable polyester sheet (not vinyl, fiber, or plant-based). The matte finish is designed to minimize reflections from ambient light for maximum readability. If the overlay becomes dirty, we recommend gently wiping it down with a soft cloth moistened with water.
We do not recommend cleaning the overlay with isopropyl alcohol, which may damage the artwork. Based on our testing, the following substances will severely damage the artwork if left on the surface for an extended period of time: tea tree oil, acetone, nail polish remover, bleach, household cleaners, and hand sanitizer.
Overlay installation takes only a few minutes. Simply remove the front panel knobs using an M1.5 (metric) hex key / Allen wrench, remove the backing from the adhesive strips on the backside of the overlay, place the overlay on top of the Deluge, and then re-install the knobs.

“Reckage” Dark Ambient Sound Pack for Synthstrom Deluge
West Coast Style Synthesis, Dark Ambient, Dystopian Soundscapes, SciFi, Deep focus, Investigative, and Contemplative
“Reckage” Dark Ambient Sound Pack contains 51 original patches for the built-in synth engine of the Synthstrom Deluge synthesizer.
Explore the sonic ruins of broken technology and abandoned energy experiments using only the built-in sound engine of your Synthstrom Deluge synthesizer. No samples are used in this sound pack. The sounds make heavy use of AM and FM synthesis, Ring Modulation, Distortion, Noise, Atonal Harmonics, and Stereo and Delay Effects. Many of the sounds are textural in nature, intended for use as soundscapes, pads, drones, sound effects, and background treatments. There are also a few ‘traditional’ sounds like bass instruments for playing simple baselines or melodies beneath the other sounds.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Once the sound pack has been purchased and downloaded to a folder on your computer, simply transfer the 51 *.XML files to the “SYNTHS” folder on your Deluge’s SD card (power off the Deluge before removing the SD card). Do not transfer the folder, just the individual files. Put the SD card back in your Deluge, and turn on the power. The synth sounds should now be available for use. Note that the individual sounds are labeled with the letter “R” as a prefix (for “Reckage”).
