Hybrid Tools Dark Prophecy which is under review today enters the dark mood that is needed for so many compositions in the modern action driven world of cinema.
Several years ago 8Dio launched the first version of Hybrid Tool (1). Since then a significant market with modern hybrid sounds has been developing.
8Dio has led, pushed and served this market with several libraries, other developers have entered this market with their solutions. 8Dio did send a review copy with no strings attached. We started to work with this library since it was in beta.
Installation
After purchase you download the library through the 8Dio download tool, the Full Retail Version of Kontakt 5.7 (or later) is required. The free Kontakt player will not work with this library.
Sound
Dark Prophecy includes 17GB of analog synth content, delivering 22 sampled instruments. You may ask yourself: How does this library fit into the other 8Dio’s libraries? The sounds and vibes include in this hybrid library are dark and provides exactly what you have been missing from the other 8Dio hybrid libraries.

You receive a stylish set of mysterious sounds. For 8Dio it is the largest collection of dark and tenebrous sounds they offer. It is great to score to picture or alternative when you score ambient music.
User interface & Usability
8Dio uses its excellent New Hybrid Tools engine. 8Dio did move some years away from the same look for every library and split the look and feel combined with the design guidance these days by library type.
The UI works very well when you are using more than one 8Dio library. You can also go deeper into so-called Chaos FX that are included. In the Effect tab, you control Filters, Step-Based Filtering, 3 Band EQ, Stereo Delay, Bit Crusher, Distortion, Dual-Convolution reverb with host synced Textural Convolution FX.
With most of the Kontakt libraries, I would strongly suggest to use external 3rd party plugins to mangle the sounds your produce.
