Warm Studio Woodwinds is the latest creation in 8Dio’s range of contemporary studio ensembles. It is derived from 8Dio’s Intimate Studio Woodwinds library. With over 160 hours of session material recorded at Scotland’s Premiere Recording Studio – Gorbals Sound, and countless more in post-production, Warm Studio Woodwinds continues 8Dio’s notion of a fully modular ensemble. 

Unprecedented control over your sound​

The sound of the Warm Studio Woodwinds Solo Clarinet is easily customizable with the wealth of options in the advanced user interface. You’ll have extreme control over the stereo image with individual volume, panning, output routing, and the new distance control, enabling you to freely blend between a direct signal and a more spacious and ambient microphone position.

Every articulation needed for your next composition​

Warm Studio Woodwinds Solo Clarinet contains a vast collection of 26 articulations covering everything you need to create authentic-sounding woodwind melodies. Each articulation is sorted into four main categories making them all quickly and easily accessible from the inbuilt browser. Choose from articulations such as a Staccato, Staccatissimo, Sustains, Trills and Legato from the Traditional Category. Or choose more nuanced techniques such as Measured Tremolo and Tempo Sync’d phrase such as Tuplets and Triplets from 8Dio’s Performance category. Finally, the Arcs and Effects categories contain Dynamically layered Arcs of varying lengths and a range of effects such as directional Runs, Scoops, and Flutter Tonguing. The User interface allows you to load and unload the articulations of your choosing, so you only have to have to load the sounds you need for your project.

The Legato articulation is incredibly agile and can play almost anything you throw at it. We recorded each player in this series simultaneously so that each musician would be working with one another and adapt their playing styles and coloration to match the overall sound of the ensemble. Recording each player this way means that no matter your combination of instruments, the Warm Studio Woodwind instruments will fit with any ensemble and beautifully blend together. Terminus is the result of over 18 months of deep production and contains four different types of core instrument groups, Percussive/Drums, Epic/Hybrid, Neo-Orchestral and Synth-Based.  All four core groups each contain seven banks, Hits, Slams, Sub Hits, Short and Long Falls, and Short and Long Risers. 

In addition, Terminus contains an array of new instrument categories, including 4 banks of Ear Candy.  Ear Candy is designed to enhance your existing compositions with big, beautiful, ethereal, and angelic textural elements.  We also created two additional banks of Strums.  Strums are tonal and a-tonal transitional elements – creating a transparent, colorful movement of cinematic textures.

The Solo Designer instruments are a massive collection of thousands of real cello & violin phrases. The intention of the library was to sample completely realistic solo violin & solo cello by creating an incredible collection of musical phrases.

8Dio programmed the library in a way that gives you maximum control over the phrases and literally allows you to sculpt 100% realistic solo violin & solo cello performances. It was deliberately designed to support, augment, and in some cases replace existing solo violin libraries. Essentially this library takes over where normal multi-samples (ex. legato, sustains) can’t perform.

SOLO VIOLIN DESIGNER Virtual Instrument VST is a massive collection of over 4.000 phrases performed by renowned concert violinist: Thomas Yee. SOLO VIOLIN DESIGNER comes with a variety of phrase sculpting tools, including pitch-control, time-stretching / time-compression, sample offset (which allows you to “scroll” into any phrase and trigger any part of it, FX and convolution reverbs. The pitch-control is not affected by tempo, so by controlling pitch, time-stretching/compression and sample offset you can essentially adapt the phrase to match the pitch and tempo of your composition.

Essentially this library takes over where normal multi-samples (ex. legato, sustains) can’t perform. We call this concept, deep phrase-sampling.
