Ben Burns
Retail Therapy Sample Pack by Ben Burnes
2025
This sample pack contains over 170 various sounds generated from banging and shuffling things around in a retail store. It was a rare opportunity during their limited operating hours that they weren’t playing background music, so Ben Burnes could go in and record a bunch of stuff relatively cleanly.
This audio was recorded by Ben Burnes using a handheld Zoom h4N. The audio was very minimally processed to even out volume levels.
These sounds are public domain (Creative Commons 0). You are free to enhance, reuse, remix, or do whatever with these files. Obviously, linking back to the pack or dropping my name in your liner notes is encouraged, but not required.

Float Kontakt Library
For a more in depth explanation of this pack and some example sounds check out the preview video below.
This pack is inspired by granular synthesis. Specifically stretching out tones and sounds into long drones using software like Paulstretch. This captures four different sounds (piano, rhodes, bells, and chimes) and allows you to sweep between them.
This library is compatible with Kontakt 5 and above. If you don’t use Kontakt, you can download the raw samples used to make the instrument as a ZIP file as well.

Ben Burns Lo-Fi Chiptune Kontakt instrument
This Kontakt library is sourced from some of my favorite microsynths: Pocket Operators from Teenage Engineering. These little guys are insanely flexible and can make full songs when chained together.

Micro Sample Pack
During Ben’s Twitch streams, viewers collect points for watching. One of the ways they can redeem those points is by requesting a sample pack. These packs are often a collection of 15-20 sounds centered around a specific theme.
Here are the current sounds in this free pack!
- Madameberry Stream Sounds
- Melon Sounds
- Chair Mat Sounds
- Electromagnetic Sounds
- Organic Wooshes Sounds
- Cat Meow Sounds
- Record Fuzzies
- Small Can Sounds
- Paper Cutter Sounds
Madameberry Stream Sounds: I’ve used sounds captured from Madameberry’s Twitch channel over the past few years. In this pack I went through her saved clips for funny/interesting highlights.
Melon Sounds: Twitch viewer CaptSubtle suggested that I make a pack from a coconut, but since that’s hard to find in a Minnesota Winter, he was OK with me mangling a melon instead.
Chair Mat Sounds: Every time I vacuum the studio, I end up making weird sounds with my chair mat. Decided to record them and share them with everyone! Creates some amazing pitched noises.
Electromagnetic Sounds: Twitch viewer NazyNateSoundDesigner suggested I make some more electromagnetic samples. I swept my EM pickup around parts of my studio (computer, laptop, phone). Lots of crazy glitched sounds. I have a full Electromagnetic sample pack as well!
Organic Wooshes Sounds: Twitch viewer NazyNateSoundDesigner suggested I make organic woosh and swoosh sounds. I found some really cool household objects that made some really distinct sounds! Specifically a spatula and swinging the end of a power cable.
Cat Meow Sounds: Twitch viewer ArcadeCaio suggested that I make a sample pack from cat meows. I couldn’t get a super clean recording environment for these, but I’d like to think that the background noise adds to their charm a bit.
Record Fuzzies: This is one that’s been sitting around on my computer for a long time and someone in chat suggested that I bring it out into the world. This contains recordings of dusty records for that authentic lo-fi fuzz. I’m looking forward to using these!
Small Can: These are sounds of flicking, dropping, plucking, and generally abusing a small soda can. Not much more I can describe here, honestly.
Paper Cutter: Clean binaural recording of a plastic paper cutter. Includes sounds of shuffling and fluttering paper too!
