How To Make Scary Sounds With Field Recordings
Spooky and scary sounds with field recordings! In this video, I show you how to record and make a scary ambiance with an underwater microphone. I’ll take to you an unexpected place where I record sounds in a pipe next to the sea using a hydrophone.
We have to admit, we’re loving this Mediterranean archipelago! We’re surrounded by incredible ancient buildings, history, weather, and of course sounds. There is so much to explore just in our neighborhood! While the island of Malta is very dense, there are still areas with less “going on” which is exactly where we take you in our latest video.
Then at home, we’ll take these sounds and create spooky sounds in Ableton using Pitch, Simpler, Raum, and a free plug-in called Dirty Filter by my friend Tomislav from Bed Room Producers Blog!
So let’s have fun and make some horror sound effects!
This new underwater sound library was recorded with the Ambient ASF2 MK2 and the Zoom F6. With this extraordinary hydrophone, I was able to record in the highest frequencies up to 90 kHz. That makes every sound designer’s heart beat faster. With such frequencies, you can create and edit completely new high-quality sound effects.
