Spring, Echo, Distort (DP001)

Here’s a quick look at Andrew whilst he works on two of the sixty loops he has created for the new Dust Palace release, ‘Spring, Echo, Distort.’

808’s through analogue spring reverb, tape and BBD echo and two styles of distortion… this isn’t your normal 808 sample kit.

‘Spring, Echo, Distort’ is a collection of three classic drum machines, samples through real analog effects, along with instrument and FX presets for Ableton Live 10 Intro, Standard, and Suite. This unique collection, created by Gunnar Olsen, offers producers and musicians the opportunity to integrate the warm and unique sounds of vintage drum machines into their music production. With the addition of instrument and FX presets for Ableton Live 10 Intro, Standard, and Suite, users can easily incorporate these sounds into their projects. In addition to the audio content, ‘Spring, Echo, Distort’ also includes an introduction to camera tracking, providing users with a comprehensive set of tools for creative expression.

Vintage 1960’s Kick and a 70’s Snare

KIK/SNR is Dust Palace opening offering into the world of drum samples, with one vintage kick and snare through twelve of Dust Palace favorite analog effects units Each effect contains two variations for both kick and snare, recorded through Neve 1073 preamps, one with 50% wet blend and the other the full 100%. Dust Palace got glorious stereo spring reverbs, digital harmonization, mono tape echo, and three types of distortion… just a small taste of things to come. 

Things really come alive when you open the included Ableton Live 10 presets, for Intro, Standard, and Suite versions, giving you access to our custom software FX macros. Turn a dial to change the kick sample whilst you cycle through the variations in real-time, then automate the software FX parameters to take the samples into a whole new space. It’s surprising how much fun you can have with just kick and snare.

DP001 – Spring, Echo, Distort

Dust Palace launches its first, full, boutique drum sample library, Spring, Echo, Distort (DP001). Created by drummer and musical director, Joe Clegg, the professional collection of creative and unusual sounds has been designed with live performance in mind.

Spring, Echo, Distort (DP001) features three classic drum machines, sampled through six analog effect units to produce more than twelve hundred samples. It also includes one hundred and eighty artist loops from @adam.marcello & @marshalldrums @gunbuns, plus @ableton Live 10 presets. Available only from Dust-Palace.com, this sample library offers inspirational, original and unusual sounds for beatmakers and producers of all musical genres. Made for studio production and live performance, Spring, Echo, Distort uses a wide range of analog spring reverb, tape echo, and distortion, guaranteed to add a new dimension to any track. Each effect component has been captured at four stages of input gain, through a collection of analog units coming back into Ableton thorough Neve 1073 pre-amps.

Clegg, the founder of Dust Palace, is known for his work as a live drummer with Ellie Goulding, and musical director with Ellie, Mumford & Sons, Clean Bandit, and others. He has huge experience in developing worldwide arena live shows for internationally acclaimed artists through his company Artclub Live. This has enabled him to develop a unique approach to the use of technology, software and sample automation in the live environment. Clegg invited professional touring drummers, Adam Marcello (Katy Perry), Andrew Marshall (Billie Eilish), Gunnar Olsen (Bruce Springsteen) to help create additional royalty-free drum loops and pre-sets.

DP002-808 and DP003-CR78 use Roland’s 808 and CR78 electronic drum machines sampled through spring reverb, tape echo and distortion to offer 384 one-shots, 60 loops and Ableton Live 10 presets of pristine, contemporary drum sounds. Also in progress is DP004-ELKA which features an Elka Drumstar 80, a hidden gem from the eighties.
