Endorphin.es Sqwk Dirty Digital Filter

I’ve put the Sqwk Dirty to the test and compared it to the Moog ladder and a real LPG. I don’t want to say that the SD is the only filter you’ll ever need, but it’s definitely a super handy filter that’s there when you need a specific sound or effect. I was surprised by the LPG emulation because most digital emulations suck (sorry).

Modeling is fine, but you’ll need to model a good one like a Buchla 292 or MakeNoise Optomix. The Sqwk uses a 12dB/Oct emulation, while the Buchla and Opto are 6 dB so it was hard to compare. However, the MakeNoise LxD has a 12dB/Oct LPG at the top, and the Sqwk comes pretty close! But it does not respond to snappy Maths envelopes which I feel is a must-have. I will suggest a 6dB strike/envelope aware model to Endorphin.es and hopefully, they’ll listen! Regardless, it’s a very useful multi-purpose filter and it sounds pretty analog to me. You may notice some noise when used with some silent modules, but it’s designed for loud sources like a raw oscillator.
