Steda Electronics is getting closer to the release of its version of a TR-909 Drum Machine. The team did release 909 mainboard final version which hints that they are getting ready for the next steps towards a release.
Personally I found it an excellent trend that many hardware companies are taking the risk and start to produce long lost drum computers. Steda Electronics joins the crowd of vendors like Behringer who are releasing a clone of the fabulous TR-909 drum machine originally made by Roland.
Talking with Steda Electronics the company commented on their work on the TR-909 Drum Machine Replication: “We started this project a year ago. We wanted to create the exact replica of the 909 and now we’ve built the first accurate copy of this classic drum machine.” comments Stanislav Beschetnov, Founder of Steda Electronics, “To begin with, we decided to study the circuit and its components. Then we had to look for alternatives to mechanical parts, they don’t affect the sound but they are pretty rare and expensive, and sometimes they’re not available at all. To keep the sound of the original 909 was our main task and I think we’ve finally found good solutions.” Stanislav continues: “Quality is very important to us and at the moment we are looking for a good factory for the production of printed circuit boards. Our sets of PCB’s and cases will be available for ordering in the near future. We will keep you posted with more detailed information on our social networks.“
