Effectrix by Sugar Bytes Review

Effectrix by Sugar Bytes is a effects sequencer for extending, looping, scratching, shifting, stutters and many more filters. Effectrix is according to Sugar Bytes their most successful effect plugin.

Sugar Bytes is a Berlin-based company focusing on Plug-ins for studio musicians and live performers. Multi-effects like Looperator, Turnado & Artillery changed the way music made in a professional production setting.  Egoist, Obscurium, and Factory are all recognized tools to improve composing and assist your creativity through their fresh approach. In December Aparillo has been added to Sugar Bytes portfolio. Sugar Bytes granted a review copy with no strings attached.

When using it live you can trigger for best results with MIDI notes. The 14 included effects can be changed according to taste through different parameters per effect. I used the impact of 80% in my DAW while working with instruments or sound design.

Sugar Bytes did include a large variety of global presets and within the particular effect (X-Loop, Loop, Scratchloop, Reverse, Stretch, Vinyl, Delay, Stutter, Crush, Filter, Phaser, Chorus, Delay, and Reverb.

You can use Effectrix on all kind of different source material on, also on unique content like an Orchestra patch. See video below where I used it on a Synth and the Orchestra patch which are part of Spitfire’s Audio Bernard Herrmann Composer

User interface & Usability

First, the UI is something you need to let to set with you after you spend some time with the interface; it is easy to use.

Rating:  Five out of five stars

With Effectrix you can change a standard almost monotonous melody into something exciting and insanely unique. Effectrix is a highly addictive plugin, and you may spend more time with it, but the results are worth experimenting or looking for a new sound or groove. Also in sound design, your recordings and patches can be molded to moving structures and textures.
