The Presonus Eris E44 MTM Studio Monitors are great pro audio monitors for the price. They are a good choice for new home music studios. If you are an audio engineer looking for quality active monitors, the Presonus Eris E44 MTM Studio Monitors are a great option to help you produce like a pro. This review was created by Alex from Consordini Musical instruments.
The Presonus Eris E44 MTM Studio Monitors are great speakers. The first thing you will notice are the three independent drivers (or speakers) on each unit. There is a 4in/10cm mid driver, a 4in/10cm low driver, as well as a 1in/2.5cm tweeter for the highest of high ranges. Dedicated mid and low-end drivers allow for much more bass response compared to the overall size of the unit. It is, effectively, like having a built-in 8in/22cm subwoofer. The range of these studio monitors is truly impressive!
You will notice the studio monitors are mirror images of each other. The tweeters are on the outside of the stereo field, which helps a lot with imaging. Presonus has designed these speakers to be oriented either vertically or horizontally. However, setting them on their sides will give you a wider stereo field, which is useful. A blue back-lit Presonus logo adds a touch of futuristic class to your set up. There are many connection options on the back panel of these studio monitors
Presonus has implemented digital signal processing (DSP). DSP can be transmitted, stored, and modified much more efficiently – with higher speed and quality. There is an area on the back panel called “acoustic tuning” which has options for low cut-off at 80hz or 100hz. You can also control the mid and high attenuation. There is also an “acoustic space” switch which can help you compensate for the flaws in the sound treatment or layout of your control room. An unbalanced RCA input, a balanced XLR input, a balanced TRS input, and a power lead socket are also on the back panel. That is a full spectrum of pro audio features that the Presonus Eris E44 MTM Studio Monitors include.
The Presonus Eris E44 MTM Studio Monitors are a great pair of quality studio monitors. Like with any speaker, there are flaws that should be taken into account depending on what you are trying to listen to. The bass cannot reach the full range unless an external subwoofer is attached and the mid-range can get lost if you are mixing a bass-heavy track. These speakers work great with classic rock, blues, country, acoustic, indie, and singer-songwriter styles. The Presonus Eris E44 MTM Studio Monitors are robust, well built, and will be there with you for a long time in your recording engineer career.
