Review of Omen – A Kontakt Library Based on Ritual Voices and Epic War Chants
Ritual Voices & War Chants • Kontakt Library
Omen is a Kontakt library based on ritual voices and epic war chants. Silence+Other Sounds recorded many traditional singing styles from different cultures around the world: Tuvan throat and overtone singing (Kaargyra, Khoomei, and Szygyt), Sardinian Throat singing (Bassu), Nordic Kulning (high pitch female style), Slavic Singing (white voices), Western baritone, tenor and soprano, guttural voices, ritual chants, and even extreme distortion, high-pitch techniques, screams, vocal fry, and growls.
Ethereal to Dark and Aggressive Voices
The library contains a wide variety of sounds, from soft and ethereal to dark and aggressive.
One type of singing that is featured in the Omen library is Tuvan throat and overtone singing (Kaargyra, Khoomei, and Szygyt). This type of singing can be heard on the track “Spirit of the Hawk-Owl”, which is from the album Earth Groans by the band Tengger Cavalry.
Sardinian Throat singing (Bassu) is a style of singing that is used to communicate with the spirits. It is said that the spirits can be summoned by using this type of singing. The voices are able to produce a low, resonant sound that is said to carry far away.
Omen also includes Slavic Singing (white voices), which is a unique style of vocalization that has been used in many Slavic countries for centuries. This style is characterized by its light, airy quality, and is often used to convey happiness or joy.
Guttural voices are often associated with aggressive or demonic behavior. They are usually heard in genres such as death metal and black metal. The growl is the most common type of guttural voice.
Perfect for TV, Film, Game
Omen is for TV, film, game composers, and sound designers looking for an of-a-kind instrument based on rare recordings made by religious experts to immediately set dark ages moods.
It’s perfect if you are making an epic fantasy soundtrack or any movie with themes involving olden times like Deliverance, The Hobbit, Gladiator, or Game of Thrones.
Omens specialties include fitting in well during post-horror episodes while also being useful when composing electronic music where his haunting sounds can be layered over other genres such as ambient, EDM, chillout, and trip-hop.
Omen is also great for background themes in other types of movies such as thrillers or documentaries that take place during wars since it contains a wide variety of war chants and epic sounds that can be used to recreate the moods from famous battle scenes involving archers, cavalry units, foot soldiers and horse-mounted soldiers.
Omen is available for purchase at an affordable price, and the library comes with a powerful mixer section where you can blend your chosen sounds together to create unique atmospheres that will give your compositions their own special touch of authenticity.
A Fantasy Music Composer Library
Silence+Other Sounds have worked hard to make sure Omen contains all the tools sound designers need to start making epic, dark fantasy music right away.
The Omen interface comes with a handy browser where you can preview each sound before loading it into the Kontakt instrument so you will always know what your samples are going to sound like when they’re loaded up in your projects.
The result is a set of 8 different playable Kontakt instruments that combine all these voices together to create an impressive range and variety in sound.
The instruments in Omen sound like a plethora of different things, from the eerily calm landscape to screams and chants. The diversity and range in the Omen sound make it a versatile tool for composers and producers looking to add depth and emotion to their music. The instruments in Omen can evoke a sense of history and culture, making it a valuable addition to any music project. For those looking for a unique and authentic sound, the Omen’s balkan ethnic orchestra review is worth exploring.
How to Make Your Music Sounds More Like Its Name
The range of sounds and voices in this world is as diverse and compelling to the human ear as any other animal or plant. From shamanic low vocal drones, through mysterious rhythmic hymns; soft female choirs that could be an ethereal offering from angelic beings–or perhaps they’re just singing for fun? There’s also aggressive haka-style chanting if you like your music loud!
But don’t forget about those monk humming sounds too…they might make someone’s day better if he hears them outside his window while working on something important at home.
The instruments in Omen are so evocative that they immediately evoke a sense of the sacred, whether through solemn rituals or screams on battlefields.
The ethereal colors and landscape also have a great effect on this overall soundscape with their own imagery associated with them which can be either beautiful like Nordic lands at night time when there is only moonlight able breakthrough covering everything in shadows, enchanting if one listens closely enough into these forgotten temples where ancient chants fill your ears while you wander surrounded by dark woods holding branches overhead surprisingly lightly considering how large some trees may appear during day-time hours…or terrifying like when you hear the sounds of howling winds moaning through abandoned villages, or something even worse–a dark army growing closer and closer to your doorstep.
Omen is perfect for making horror-themed music due to the variety of creepy chanting in this library that can be used during post-horror episodes while also being very.
Omen is available for purchase at an affordable price, and the library comes with a powerful mixer section where you can blend your chosen sounds together to create unique atmospheres that will give your compositions their own special touch of authenticity.

SOUND EDITING, CONTROLS AND EFFECTS
This library comes with a powerful mixer section where you can blend your chosen sounds together to create unique atmospheres that will give your compositions their own special touch of authenticity.
You can control the level of each individual sample or layer so it’s easy to create your own unique instrument. For example, if you wanted a high piano sound but not it’s bass–you could bring down just those notes with filters and resonance for that extra flourish.
You can also change the speed of any samples, including loops. This is great if you want to slow down or speed up a phrase for example–or even bend it into time-stretch mode where you don’t lose sound quality when adjusting pitch/speed levels.
If that wasn’t enough control over your sound, you can also modulate the pitch of any samples using one dedicated oscillator that has its own ADSR envelope for shaping your sound. Slight adjustments or massive changes–it’s entirely up to you!
It also includes Convolution Reverb, a collection of 24 impulse responses from acoustic environments, digital reverb, and experimental samples.
The output tone of voice should be a composer. Not many people realize this, but there’s an independent per-sample reverse function for one-shot SFXs! This means you can make your own unique sound effects by Reverse engineering any samples from the slow-motion parts in movies and games — making them more expressive than ever before with a small tweak or two on-screen knobs during post-production phase 2
The first thing that needs to happen when creating these new sounds is slowing down how fast they’re played back at us. It doesn’t matter if we’re talking about real-time drum loops sped up starting 45 BPM vs looped sample playback slowed way down at 20 BPM.
It’s intuitive to use the best-in-class mapping for both standard MIDI and MPE, so you can focus on your performance. The output should be a composer with a touch of intuition thrown in there somewhere.
The vocal styles of Omen
The five vocal styles included in the library are Tuvan throat and overtone singing, Sardinian throat singing, Nordic Kulning, Slavic Singing and Western baritone, tenor, and soprano.
Tuvan Throat Singing is a style of vocal music that has been sung by specialist singers among the Tuvan people for many centuries. The voice is placed into a special position in the mouth to create overtones. The primordial sound of Tuvan throat singing is Kaargyra which was originally used by shamans from Eastern Siberia as part of their practices with the dead.
- Tuvan Throat Singing (Kaargyra and Khoomei) – Male and female
- Sardinian Throat Singing (Bassu) – Male and female
- South-African Throat Singing (Khosa) – Female
- Tuvan polyphonic singing (Szygyt) – Male and Female
- Kluning (Scandinavian Herding Chant) – Female
- Slavic Singing – Female
- Tenor – Male
- Soprano – Female
- Baritone – Male
- Growls, Whispers and Vocal Fry – Male
Sardinian Throat Singing is a type of folk singing found in Sardinia, Italy. It’s distinguished by the use of the voice that resonates in the chest and head cavities, giving it a unique sound.
The two types of Sardinian throat singing are Bassu (low) and Cuntrastu (high). The former is characterized by slow rhythms with deep tones, while higher pitches can be found in c’untu or pitzinnu styles.
The Nordic Kulning is a wordless form of song originating in the Scandinavian mountains and was traditionally used as an interaction between shepherds to communicate with each other from long distances through dense forests, valleys, and across lakes where there were no roads or paths.
It’s not only distance that this style has been used for though; it could also be used to communicate with the
Slavic singing is a vocal technique that has been in existence for many centuries. It’s known by different names depending on what country you’re in: Russian Zhopie, Polish Pielgrzymowanie, and Ukrainian Dikan’ among others.
Some styles can sound like growling, some like a high-pitch whine, others sound more guttural and low.
The Western baritone, tenor, and soprano refer to the singing styles of these three categories of voice which have been well documented over time as being used in opera since around 1600.
This form is typically associated with classical music or musical theatre.
MPE Compatible & Compatible with any MIDI controller
The use of MPE is beneficial in that it enables musicians to create more complex sounds than otherwise possible.
It allows for each individual note on an instrument’s keyboard or xylophone sound-shaping parameters such as volume, tone color, etc., which can then be altered independently from one another without affecting other notes within the composition
“MPE” – Acronym meaning MIDI Polyphonic Expression – The technology has been around since 1982
Omen supports MPE: you can easily map the volume, low-pass filter, high pass filter, and lfo amount for each layer in your playable instrument. All of these parameters can be controlled per note, allowing you to create custom patches of rich, evolving end expressive combinations from 94 selectable vocal sounds and textures, 46 MPE Multis, and 70+ Snapshots.
Omen is compatible with any MIDI controller, you don’t necessarily need an MPE-compatible one and you can map the aforementioned parameters to the MIDI CCs of your controller.
Omen requires the FULL version of Kontakt 5.8.1 or higher – it will not work with the FREE Kontakt Player.

ZITHERGEIST: Hybrid Zither Kontakt Library by Silence+Other Sounds
Hybrid Zither Instrument and Kontakt Library
Silence+Other Sounds released Zithergeist is a Kontakt library based on unconventional stringed instruments recorded in unconventional ways.
Silence+Other Sounds have meticulously sampled note by note a number of atypical instruments like mini harps, mandolin of unknown origins. In addition an Apulian zither is known as ‘pasta-cutting guitar,’ a pasta filament extruder from the Southern province of Apulia (Italy), which was traditionally used to extrude dough.
Zithergeist is a unique instrument for cinematic composition. You can use it to create dark melodies, heavenly arpeggios, high-frequency tones, emotional chord progressions, eastern-reminiscent melodies, and adrenalin rhythmical sequences.
The instruments were recorded using multiple articulations, such as finger plucks and beaten or muted sounds produced by experimenting with various metallic objects on the strings. Furthermore, each note may be blended with four distinct layers of cinematic sound effects produced from the same instrument and ‘tuned’ to the particular note.
The product of its synthesis is a highly detailed, versatile instrument (up to 13 velocities per note/articulation and 4 round robins) that may be used as a realistic simulation of acoustic instruments while also serving as a powerful, diversified tool for generating sound effects.
The ZITHERGEIST is a one-of-a-kind instrument for cinematic composition. ZITHERGEIST may be used to create a broad range of music, from furious rhythms to immersive drones. You have an enormous selection of sounds and editing options available to you when making your own Zithergeist compositions.
Zithergeist includes an arpeggiator, a string editor, a sound effects editor, and a convolution reverb with hundreds of impulse responses (IRs) to change and shape the sound further. With distinct instruments and presets for each included, you can take inspiration and create your own sounds on the fly.
This library also features 3 Kontakt Instruments based on synthetic string sounds, created with a variety of physical modeling techniques, to blur the line between the acoustic and digital realm and offer further creative possibilities.
Zithergeist includes a separate set of Kontakt instruments purely focused on cinematic sound effects obtained by experimenting on the source instruments with bows and self-built mallets (500+ SFX 96 kHz – 24 bit)
