Behind-the-scenes-style
Spitfire Audio is open-handedly offering valuable insight into the APERTURE THE STACK production process with an aptly titled collection. Since seeing and hearing are believed by many, Spitfire Audio has started to offer a peek at how they work together on new releases: “The Stack”.
The Stack is a new, behind-the-scenes-style documentary film premiering on Thursday at 6 PM GMT/10 AM PST during The Black Weekend.
The hallowed halls ofAir Studios are a place where the rarefied sights and sounds of amps, subs, synths can be heard. A vast array of instruments sit on stage ready for capture with extensive Eurorack instrument racks in sight – it’s easy to see why this is one recording studio that doesn’t get booked up quickly!
But best of all, APERTURE THE STACK is available for free during The Black Weekend when spending £299.00 GBP (inc. VAT)/$349.00 USD/€349.00 EUR (inc. VAT) or more! The once-in-a-century event gathered an unprecedented collection of instruments, including eight SOMA Laboratory LYRA-8 orgasmic synths. The selection was so vast and varied that it would be difficult to find one similar instrument from this orchestra for comparison purposes!
The historic gathering included sounds such as bells or chimes; percussions like drums and cymbals ensembles accompanied by electric guitars — even synthesizers played beautifully through channels about halfway into their range on each side (side-chaining of two channels was used, but not overdone). Overhead rooms were rich with piano sounds.
Christian Henson’s coveted Analogue Solutions Colossus supersized synth (a.k.a “Dave”) and extensive Eurorack modular system are a dynamic duo of modern-day Deckard’s Dream: one with the ability to create an environment that sounds futuristic, while also paying homage back through time in order for us all remember what it was like before our technological advancements became too big of a change from reality; they’re just two different ways this world can be experienced – which do you want more?
When you think of the best analog synths, Korg probably isn’t first on your list. But these days it’s hard to find good old-fashioned polyphonic keyboards like what they used in 1981 for “synthesized string sections” or TR-808 drum machine that has been featured more times than any other piece of gear this side ’80s pop music without electronic percussion instruments (and let us not forget about its predecessor JUNO). And if all else fails? There are still always those trusty Juno series pedals waiting just inside door number two 😉
Together with modern-day Moogs and Sequential Prophets, alongside an expert ensemble of two bass guitars led by ambient guitar innovator Leo Abrahams (who has collaborated creatively on many successful sample libraries for this company before), London’s Royal College Of Music performs innovative sound waves that could be called “texture meets melody.
