Origins Vol.3: 12-String & Balalaika by Sonuscore Review

SONUSCORE published the third part of the ORIGINS series: Origins Vol. 3: 12-String & Balalaika. Sonuscore is known for libraries like The Orchestra which we reviewed as well earlier this year and other essential Kontakt libraries like Action Strings and Action Strikes.

SONUSCORE was founded in 2012 as a label of the music and sound production studio Dynamedion and was created by the same team that established the highly acclaimed BOOM Library. We covered products like Enforcer, Turbine, Urban & Suburban, and The Orchestra. SONUSCORE did send a review copy with no strings attached.

Installation

Origins Vol. 3: 12-String & Balalaika needs a FULL version of Native Instruments’ KONTAKT 5. The free Kontakt player will not work. You download the product, and after a helpful batch re-save in Kontakt, you are ready to use this Kontakt Instrument from your Files Tab in Kontakt.

Sound

Origins Vol. 3 is a Balalaika infused acoustic guitar that comes with very usable ready to use chords and rhythms patterns and could also be played as a duo or solo instrument.

The combination of these unique instruments is excellent to produce modern and ethnic sounding vibes and rhythm, the quality based on the experience with the development team and how best with the Orchestra sound convincing and like human performance.

Through the included color presets you can quickly change the whole tone of the instruments playing. Some sound color reminds me of plugins from a third party, and you should have to move this thought a bit further to see that with external plugins you can shape the sound and extend the use of this beautiful library even further.

User interface & Usability

One approach to the library is to go through the more than 100 rhythms presets, when you find a good starting position you can use the arpeggio tools and FX tools to shape the pace and vibe.
