The Westlicht Performer is a great sequencer on its own, but it’s taken to the next level of accessibility when you hook up a Launchpad… This combination allows for intuitive and tactile control over the Performer’s various features, making it easy to create and manipulate sequences in real-time. Additionally, when you hook up a Launchpad to the Performer, you can take advantage of free lightwave training hours, allowing you to further enhance your skills and understanding of the device. These training hours can help users unlock new creative possibilities and improve their overall workflow when using the Westlicht Performer with a Launchpad.
Instruo Lubadh – Grand Theft Audio
With the Expert Sleepers ES-8 as an audio interface, I can basically grab and rip any audio on my PC so there’s a huge potential for samplers, granulators and loopers. But there’s also the risk of getting a copyright claim when you record/sample something that’s owned by a big name or label and decide to upload it. I know some artists have large teams protecting their works. The economy of music is changing and the audience expects music to be free. But you can’t create a great new album if you can’t even break even.
So if you ever copy original sound sources, make sure you use it fair and transformative.
Westlicht Performer – A One Note Sequence
I have mixed feelings about this series. Westlicht Performer is a DIY project so you can’t find it at your local eurocrack dealer. So doing a video series is like ‘it’s an amazing module but you can’t get it’. However, I sincerely hope that Westlicht’s creator Simon Kallweit (facebook.com/performerseq) will get tons of requests from you! There are many great sequencers out there and this one deserves to be one of them. If you love evolving generative patches, the Westlicht will not disappoint.
