Voltage Research Laboratory Organic Modular Synthesizer
Voltage Research Laboratory by Pittsburgh Modular Mid-June Update was released. The collective of 266 backers (I am one of 14 backers from Germany) have to wait a little longer to get our hands on this Synthesizer.
Voltage Research Laboratory Design
Two new features have been added to the Voltage Lab! The random CV and gate shift register is much cooler now. The percent chance of change is now adjustable from 10% to 90% chance. The percent chance of random is also voltage controllable! This adds a new dimension to the pseudo-random evolving CV and gate patterns available from the random outputs.
Voltage Research Laboratory Hardware
Pittsburgh Modular manufacturing partner WMD is in the process of manufacturing the production prototype units. These units are built to set up and test the manufacturing process before the full production run.
Voltage Research Laboratory Documentation
The Voltage Research Laboratory web page will be turned on later today. At this point, it is basically a clone of the Kickstarter page. Pittsburgh Modular is also working on the user manual. The manual is a big project and will take a bit of time but it should be an indispensable tool in getting the most out of the instrument. They have called it the Voltage Research Laboratory Encyclopedia.
Voltage Research Laboratory Workshop
Everyone pitched in last week to clean and reorganize Pittsburgh Modular HQ in preparation for the upcoming build. Pittsburgh Modular also added a small demo studio area for podcasting and audio production that Richard will start taking advantage of next week.

Voltage Research Laboratory Organic Modular Synthesizer fully funded on Kickstarter
2025
Voltage Research Laboratory Organic Modular Synthesizer has been successfully funded. Now funds will soon be transferred to Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers, and they’ll begin working on their project. 266 backers pledged $268,985 for Voltage Research Laboratory Organic Modular Synthesizer on Kickstarter. I was one out of 14 backers from Germany.
A New Organic Synthesizer by Pittsburgh Modular
The Voltage Research Laboratory is an entirely different analog synthesizer where every function of the instrument has been influenced by the behaviors and systems of the natural world. Wildly experimental and extremely deep, the Voltage Research Laboratory is a sonic playground created to explore the natural methods and lesser-known fringes of analog synthesis.
The Voltage Research Laboratory is 100% eurorack modular format compatible and is comprised of 3 separate eurorack modules housed together in a purpose-built, handmade eurorack enclosure. More than a collection of tools and functions, it is a unique modular synthesizer designed to reward deep experimentation and encourage the creation of individual sonic systems.
