Bass Invaders 2 – 404 bass sounds for Elektron Analog Rytm

Bass Invaders 2: The Final Showdown is the follow-up to Plughugger extremely popular Bass Invaders soundset released back in 2017. Just as with the original soundset, Bass Invaders 2 is a collection of sounds, entirely based on the DualVCO synth engine and doesn’t contain any static samples.

Bass Invaders 2 is more of everything. While the first collection contained 200 sounds, this collection contains more than 400 bass sounds. Since Plughugger aimed for such a large number of sounds, Plughugger pushes the sound engine into more obscure and experimental directions at times.

The result is a collection of 404 bass sounds. From traditional bread-and-butter dark electric style basses and acid house-gnarls, to stabbed intervals, unpredictable sounds with random modulation, sounds with extreme FM and Ring Modulation – and sometimes both.

Lumos by Plughugger

Lumos is an ambient orchestra of sounds based on nothing else but the sounds of lamps. From mellow 40 watt lightbulbs all the way up to illuminating 200 watt.

When Spectrasonics created the Psychoacoustic section of samples in Omnisphere they didn’t hold back burning up a piano just to hear how that might sound or the glassy sound of tungsten lightbulbs being hit with different intensities.

Equipped with the sound of a handful of lamps, our goal was to explore these sounds by turning them into sequences, textures / soundscapes, synth(ish) leads and pads.

Aperture – Analog Ambient for u-he Diva

Aperture is a collection of sounds inspired by ambient productions by Aphex Twin from the 80s and 90s. The main design goal of the sounds is to combine analog depth and warmth, with pitch imperfections, lush reverbs and organic modulation.

Plughugger's Aperture - Analog Ambient for u-he Diva 49

The main focus of the soundset lies with pads, soundscapes and soft melodic leads, oddly tuned bells, a handful of arpeggios, analog style effects sounds and some mellow drums and percussion.

The soundset is divided into two parts. The first part contains the main section of the sounds, designed using all synthesis options available in Diva. The second part is called “Fundamentals” and is a collection of sounds stripped back to their bare minimum with one or two oscillators and usually just one effect. This section is more basic and was designed to be more typical ambient bread and butter sounds. We also chose to make the sounds in the “Fundamentals” to be less CPU intensive.

Aperture Includes

Aperture Main Sounds (110 sounds)

  • 3 Arpeggios
  • 7 Bass sounds
  • 12 Drum and percussion sounds
  • 12 Hits and effects
  • 31 Synth and lead sounds
  • 30 Pads and synth strings
  • 15 Textures and soundscapes

Aperture Fundamentals  (50 sounds)

  • 5 Arpeggios
  • 6 Drum and percussion sounds
  • 4 Hits and effects
  • 17 Synth and lead sounds
  • 11 Pads and synth strings
  • 7 Textures and soundscapes

Audio files (18 sounds)

  • 18 Unprocessed drum sounds

All audio files are 24 bit/44 kHz mono. All sounds are properly tagged making finding sounds easy (both in Diva as well as in Native Instruments NKS format).

Nanopolarity an Arturia Pigments 2 Soundset by Plughugger

Nanopolarity an Arturia Pigments 2 Soundset

Nanopolarity is a collection of cinematic soundscapes for Arturia Pigments 2. The core of the sounds is based on 250MB of sampled sounds from the Access Virus TI hardware synthesizer and is aimed for productions of film and TV, as well as contemporary music genres where a simple pad just doesn’t cut it.

The Arturia Pigments is a fantastic synthesizer and Plughugger would like to work more on it and create more synth-centric sounds for it. Nanopolarity was my first real work with it and is based on soundscapes, textures, and synthetic hits recorded from a Virus TI. It’s an excellent soundset and you can listen to the demos here. Producer Brian Brylow was kind enough to provide me with an atmospheric Pink Floyd-ish demo for it and Plughugger absolutely recommends you to take a listen to it.

Nanopolarity an Arturia Pigments 2 Soundset by Plughugger 56

Nanopolarity is our first soundset for the Arturia Pigments, and the combination of Arturia Pigments and Virus TI is a match made in heaven. With its vast synthesis capabilities, the Virus is the perfect source to further sculpt the raw samples into completely new sounds. We used the granular engine as well as the Shaper Mode (unison, resonators, chords etc) and made good use of the excellent modulation capabilities in Pigments.

Apart from pads and soundscapes, we also added a handful of percussive sounds from the Virus, as the foundation of synthetic-cinematic hits and boomers.

Nanopolarity contains 174 new sounds:

  • 163 Textures / Soundscapes
  • 11 Drum / Percussion
