Bad Shepard

A few days ago, Walker from MakeNoise showed one of the coolest patches I have heard on the Shared: the ‘One Function To Guide Them All’ or ‘Giant Ramp Wave’. It’s basically a slow rise CV from Maths that drives the whole Shared System. I was wondering how this would sound as a Shephard tone, a rise that goes on forever – instead of starting over.

I recorded the rise in Ableton and created three overlapping copies to create the effect, because it’s impossible to do this on the Shared – ok, maybe with the Morphagene and a lucky ‘record’ in Sound-on-Sound mode. Then I realized the Mimeophon could layer many copies of the Rise in zone 7, the ‘long repeat’ of 43 seconds.
